Its been two long month in US but feels ages,I have got so used to things here that I have started becoming part of it.I never expected myself to camouflage but yay I did. When people ask me do you feel homesick,I'm like no..and they give strange expressions !!!
I have seen most part of DC and also found old lost friends..Feels great to see my people around..I'm loving this phase(from cooking, grocery shopping, paying rent, taxes, washing!!) ...I'm just loving "IT" !!
PS:Its 3am and I'm tired of doing homework as usual ...!!
Thinking Rethinking
Friday, August 21, 2009
Being in USA is great feeling .But sitting here I realise that too much freedom can be dangerous too.I have promised myself the day I landed Washington DC that I would not break my parents dream.I still remember the way my mom waived me Pa had moist eyes.I'm here to fulfill their dreams.Sending me to USA was a big gamble, and I hope my parents don't loose, coz I promise myself I would not indulge in anything which is not right & makes me rethink (was it rite?)
I'm here for a reason & I ill fulfill their dreams at any cost.
PS: this part of my blog is related to all my frnds who keep me grounded for my betterment

Sunday, August 9, 2009
Its been 5 days I have reached USA,all of sudden life looks standstill. It was a long journey but thank God with no jetlag. The very next day I had gone to my college to see my college campus,it was gigantic.I could see loads of unfamilar faces but still the new begining wasn't that bad.Got few formalities done registerd myself for the classes got college id.I saw my campus which was very big,was feeling very excited.
Everything is so different from traffic rules to appartements. There is so much to explore & everyday I'm learning a new lesson.
I will upload pictures very soon.

Random thoughts !

The more you expect someone else to tease you, please you, entertain you and make you happy… the more you will find misery in your life - and to top it all, you will ALWAYS find someone else to blame.
People who constantly blame others are never able to look at their own faults. They will always claim it’s their family, boyfriend/girlfriend, friends who bitch, the weather, phases of the moon, sun or the planetary position of their toilet seat that is to blame for their moods. For anyone reading this, who is unhappy with their life and thinks the cause of their unhappiness lies outside of themselves, understand this-
If you are unable to find happiness as you are, and where you are – you will never find happiness anywhere. And I mean anywhere – or with anyone

Mahak completed the quiz "Full Personality Evaluation" with the result You are a type 1C person.
You have a need for other people to like and admire you, and yet you tend to be critical of yourself. While you have some personality weaknesses you are generally able to compensate for them. You have considerable unused capacity that you have not turned to your advantage. Disciplined and self-controlled on the outside, you tend to be worrisome and insecure on the inside. At times you have serious doubts as to whether you have made the right decision or done the right thing. You prefer a certain amount of change and variety and become dissatisfied when hemmed in by restrictions and limitations. You also pride yourself as an independent thinker; and do not accept others' statements without satisfactory proof. But you have found it unwise to be too frank in revealing yourself to others. At times you are extroverted, affable, and sociable, while at other times you are introverted, wary, and reserved. Some of your aspirations tend to be rather unrealistic..

Judging people
Sunday, April 12, 2009

I was having long conversation with a friend about judging people. The main theme of conversation was "M I wrong judge :P ".We kept discussing lot of examples and instances where this statement was proved right. The main issue actually is we as human make pre conceived notation about loads of thing and people and believe they will behave in particular manner and create a pseudo image. For example : if u see somebody in salwaar kamees you would think she is all good girl and stuff & on the other hand if u see a girl in skirt your thinking changes.
So the question is how to judge people ,follow these rules
1)First impression should not always be last impression (rem all that glitter is not always gold!)
2)If somebody breaks your trust once be alert and smart not to trust the same individual blindly again
3)If you judge people by what they say you can be wrong at times, coz they will not always mean what they say !
4)use your mind listen to your brain it knows the best!!
5)And lastly if things have to go wrong all these 4 advices will not work :P

"Destiny is great"
These are words my mom is fond of,and guess what I have started loving the quote.Life is unexpected and when you expect life to be smooth you see the harshness and vice versa.Over the years I realized I come in the lucky lot,coz when things don't work out, when the situations are not in my hand God finds me something to "smile" about. When you are content with your life you have this smile direct from heart.Whenever I have been sad in morning ,something or the other is bound to happen to make me smile/laugh by evening :).Sometimes old memories make you smile and you forget the past.I have so many good memories and positive people around me and I'm cho very lucky.Today I wanna thank all known unknown faces who have been part of 'making memory phase' :P .All of sudden I'm getting shrills seeing my friends getting married. When you expect least thing to happen to a person & it happens its called Destiny.Hope everybody around ends up into good & live happily ever after.
lOADS OF LOVE :)
PS: as usual I'm writing c&*p :P

I just got a mail from an american NRI friend which did make me think
As the dream of most parents I had acquired a degree in Software Engineerand joined a company based in USA, the land of braves and opportunity. WhenI arrived in the USA , it was as if a dream had come true. Here at last I was in the place where I want to be. I decided I would be staying in this country for about Five years in which time I would have earned enough money to settle down in India .My father was a government employee and after his retirement, the only asset he could acquire was a decent one bedroom flat. I wanted to do some thing more than him. I started feeling homesick and lonely as the time passed. I used to call home and speak to my parents every week using cheap international phone cards. Two years passed, two years of Burgers at
McDonald's and pizzas and discos and 2 years watching the foreign exchange rate getting happy whenever the Rupeevalue went down. Finally I decided to get married. Told my parents that I have only 10 days of holidays and everything must be done within these 10 days. I got my ticket booked in the cheapest flight. Was jubilant and was actually enjoying hopping for gifts for all my friends back home.If I miss anyone then there will be talks. After reaching home I spent home one week going through all the photographs of girls and as the time was getting shorter I was forced to select one candidate. In-laws told me,to my surprise, that I would have to get married in 2-3 days, as I will not get anymore holidays. After the marriage, it was time to return to USA , after giving some money to my parents and telling the neighbors to look after them, we returned to USA .My wife enjoyed this country for about two months and then she startedfeeling lonely. The frequency of calling India increased to twice in a week sometimes 3 times a week. Our savings started diminishing. After two more years we started to have kids. Two lovely kids, a boy and a girl, were gifted to us by the almighty. Every time I spoke to my parents, they asked me to come to India so that they can see their grand-children.Every year I decide to go to India . But part work part monetary conditions prevented it. Years went by and visiting India was a distant dream. Then suddenly one day I got a message that my parents were seriously sick. I tried but I couldn't get any holidays and thus could not go to India . The next message I got was my parents had passed away and as there was no one to do the last rights the society members had done whatever they could. I was depressed. My parents had passed away without seeing their grand children. After couple more years passed away, much to my children's dislike and my wife's joy we returned to India to settle down. I started to look for a suitable property, but to my dismay my savings were short and the property prices had gone up during all these years. I had to return to the USA .My wife refused to come back with me and my children refused to stay in India . My 2 children and I returned to USA after promising my wife I would be back for good after two years.Time passed by, my daughter decided to get married to an American and my son was happy living in USA . I decided that had enough and wound-up every thing and returned to India . I had just enough money to buy a decent 02 bedroom flat in a well-developed locality. Now I am 60 years old and the only time I go out of the flat is for the routine visit to the nearby temple. My faithful wife has also left me and gone to the holy abode.Sometimes I wondered was it worth all this? My father, even after staying in India , had a house to his name and I too have the same nothing more.I lost my parents and children for just ONE EXTRA BEDROOM.Looking out from the window I see a lot of children dancing. This damned cable TV has spoiled our new generation and these children are losing their values and culture because of it. I get occasional cards from my children asking I am alright. Well at least they remember me. Now perhaps after I die it will be the neighbors again who will be performing my last rights, God Bless them. But the question still remains
'was all this worth it?'

Acclimatisation
Acclimatisation : I heard this word years back in school times w.r.t frog how it changes itself according to the environment.Over the years I did realize the words true meaning.Over the years I have got used to almost every environment. In 2003 I left my home town and came down to mumbai, initially it was difficult because culture vise Doon and Mumbai were like poles apart. One more reason was I stayed in my Doon 15 years and all this while my school, friends, neighbors all remained same. But coming down to Mumbai was a big culture shock. But over the time I got used to it.College was never tough thing then coz I knew how things and people were partially . Over the time you do get used to new things (so called ).Over the time I realized that actually I never got out of my shell but anyways this is how I was/'m supposed to be :P. I would prefer people around me who could make me feel comfortable ,but I did realize its not gonna be same in coming times.

I realized that probably my acclimatisation speed rate is slower then others :P .For better future I have promised myself that I would never compare present conditions with past or future, coz when you don't have comparison in mind you get accustomed to new environment much easily. So let everyday of life be a new day ,every moment a new moment .Recreate moments every single second and live as if this is lat moment so you don't have to die with heavy heart and say on death bed "oh i wish I didn't waste my precious moment on stupid thoughts/people"
So live and let live & promise yourself to bring a smile on some random face coz small things do make difference
Loads of love to all
PS: I hate frogs yuk yuk yuk

I'm bored till hell now days, don't have much things to do .I mean I do have but then I have loads of sleep and as usual other stuff to do which keep me away from things and weird thoughts.
I have some eldritch friends also with whom I'm in constant touch :P
Then there is this new theory which they taught me which states
The great value of the three F's:
forgive, forget and forge ahead
and guess what it works :).The basic funda is to follow it and live happily .
PS: I'm irritated my rooms AC is not working :( so here comes the heat :P

Why do we shout when we are angry?
Saturday, March 21, 2009
A saint asked his disciples, 'Why do we shout in anger? Why do people shout at each other when they are upset?'
Disciples thought for a while, one of them said, 'Because we lose our calm, we shout for that.'
'But, why to shout when the other person is just next to you?' asked the saint. 'Isn't it possible to speak to him or her with a soft voice? Why do you shout at a person when you're angry?'

Disciples gave some other answers but none satisfied the saint. Finally he explained, 'When two people are angry at each other, their hearts distance a lot. To cover that distance they must shout to be able to hear each other. The angrier they are, the stronger they will have to shout to hear each other through that great distance.'
Then the saint asked, 'What happens when two people fall in love? They don't shout at each other but talk softly, why? Because their hearts are very close. The distance between them is very small...' The saint continued, 'When they love each other even more, what happens? They do not speak, only whisper and they get even closer to each other in their love. Finally they even need not whisper, they only look at each other and that's all. That is how close two people are when they love each other.'
MORAL:
When you argue, do not let your hearts get distant, do not say words that distance each other more, else there will come a day when the distance is so great that you will not find the path to return.

When the whole world was discussing about Sri Lanka team today my family was mourning about the loss.
My bua is very close to me even her kids .My cousin Mona di,Sona di and Raju Bhaiya all got married within a year span (2002-2003).Sona di was youngest she was just 19 when she got married. She is known to be most beautiful girl in my family. She fits into "punjabi kudi" tag. Most of our family objected that she is too young to get married but bua said that she was middling in studies (that time she was doing BA) she would not find a suitable match later. My jijaji was the most handsome guy I have seen. She got married and all of us were really happy for her coz she was happy. She lived in a palace,& I'm not joking. My jijaji was from big jamidaar family from Rajasthan. They lived life king size, you name it and she has it .whenever I used to meet her she would bring the most high-priced gifts. Her happiness didn't stop here within a year she gave birth to Vansh (cuty pie of our family). They had the biggest lohri(For punjabees lohri is really important festival). In october she gave birth to a son and so they had this complete family picure now.
There were times I used to think sona di just has typical bahu life she isnt enjoying the life .I always used to think she hasen't spend time with her friends. She hasen't done typical things like us.But never mind she was happy.
But the biggest shock came today. My bua called up to tell that jijaji met with an accident & is no more. The only thing that struck me was Sona di's face.I said she is just 24 how could this happen ??.
I know this happens in every third house ,parents get their girls married at young age, without even thinking twice that their girl is still so innocent & unaware about the world.Today when jijaji is not around my cousin is left alone.Since jijai stayed in joined family I'm still skeptical how they are going to keep my sis.I'm still doubtful about the kids.I'm still doubtful about this old mentality.I'm still doubtful about her presence.

A Small Story…
A boy and a girl were playing together. The boy had a collection of
marbles. The girl had some sweets with her. The boy told the girl that
he will give her all his marbles in exchange for her sweets. The girl
agreed.
The boy kept the biggest and the most beautiful marble aside and gave
the rest to the girl. The girl gave him all her sweets as she had
promised.
That night, the girl slept peacefully. But the boy couldn't sleep as
he kept wondering if the girl had hidden some sweets from him the way
he had hidden his best marble.

Moral of the story: If you don't give your hundred percent in a
relationship, you'll always keep doubting if the other person has
given his/her hundred percent... This is applicable for any
relationship like love, friendship, employer-employee relationship
etc., Give your hundred percent to everything you do and sleep
peacefully

Oscar Review :Live from kodak Theatre!!

I woke up early to see the oscars,my main concern was the red carpet!I wanted to see how well they were dressed :P
So here comes the waiting review :P

Friedo Pinto :madam what are you wearing? Thats what I said, big turn off was a blue evening gown.I expected her to wear a sari and look unique, but this lady looked like she has come directly from Dharawi.

Slumdog : Jai ho?
Monday, February 23, 2009

I just posted this note and got opinion from pals
note was:
I know most of you are celebrating the success of the movie.I agree that Rehman deserved it but the movie..naa
I guess the west is really fascinated about hunger and poverty so if you see all of sudden increase in foreign crowd in Mumbai, its gonna be for Dharavi not for "the taj" or "culture".You will see them all around Dharavi area with d heavy cam!!
Anyways if it does make difference to so called "slumdog" living condition ,I would then applaud!
till then "jai ho" Rahman!
Replies:
-I feel the same way.. I'm glad atleast there was a happy ending though.. also I guess any publicity is good publicity.. it is a typical white-man's Indian movie.. slums and poverty.. but then all the hype is sure to bring lots of tourism money for us.. haha.. 'jai ho'! :-D
-I knw hw these firangees use poor Indians ( pun intended!)
-I guess we also ought to stop basking in the reflected glory of the Brits.... Slumdog was after all a movie by a Brit, not an Indian.
-yes its a british movie more than anything..
-Rite and d best thing d Indian media which has potrayed it as an Indian movie!
Brits use indians coz they r cheaper I guess thats why all technicians n actors were Indians!
hence proved Indians still want appreciation from west!
anyways its like that can't change

-"Brits use indians coz they r cheaper I guess thats why all technicians n actors were Indians!"
now who said that to you???? lol
sorry to say but thats a rather misinformed opinion ...
-So you want to say the "slum" kids were given moolahs??
Their living conditions hasn't improved yet howcome?
The only thing they got was media attention and thats also temporary!
PS: Rehman already had great name in India the only thing he got frm d movie was recognition from west !
PSS: For me d real unsung heroes were the kids!
-makin a film is nt abt doing social service yar...n it is nt the filmakers job to rehabilitate the slum dwelers... its the govt's job. Slumdog is a simple story of a boy's journey from rags to riches...and the slums are simply the 'milieu' (setting).
About the 'west' being fascinated about hunger and poverty... again the choice of words matters... they don't derive any sadistic pleasure in viewing the harsh conditions... it's just that such a lifestyle is alien to them
and even if rehman got recognition from the west... its not a big deal... rehman was already well known in the west ever since 'bombay dreams'... a musical produced by andrew loyd webber (of CATS fame)...
and for a film like SM... the heroes are never the actors... the characters are the real heroes... the day indian filmmakers and audience realise that... probably one would see better content in cinema halls.
However 1 things there fr sure... SM is nt a gr8 film,bt certainly a neat 1.i enjoyed da buk more.
-I'm not talking about rehabilation,I felt the movie belonged to the kids who never got the rite attention,& if your movie is getting so much appreciation you can always think about those kids.
In btw Rehman has worked on songs which were much better then "Jai ho"/"Bombay dreams" its just that those who were involved with these projects were not Indian. So it prooves if you want to get recognition you need "firangi" !
So you want every film to have actors from real life? It was demand of the movie in btw only 2 kids have actually came from similar background as movie(kid who plays latika n jamal & few extras Iguess)
I have seen movies which were better then SM anyday
-Yes, SM is a rather mediocre movie. And I think had it been directed by an INDIAN wouldn't have received the same recognition and attention that Danny Boyle has received. I haven't seen the remaining nominees in the same category like Milk, The Reader, Curious Case of Benjamin Button, hence I can't say if SM did not deserve it.
-VERY happy 4 d movie....it did well.....no doubt !!!!
I really liked d direction by Danny Boyle !!!!
It deserved an OSCAR no doubt ;)
but d only thing i regret in all dis was....d kids who acted in d movie were jst paid 50 bucks per day....(i had read abt dis in newspapers and now i heard by d kids themselves sayin' it on d radio) !!!!
d money thy recieved is nuthin' as compared 2 wat othrs get jst frm low-budget serials...then wat abt such a big budget movie ?? didnt thy have enuf' money 2 give those poor children ????
ok !!! ya make a movie on slums....but do ya really care 4 dose slum people ??
If wat i heard and read abt d poor kids(getting jst 50 rupees per day during d film-shooting) is TRUE....thn its such a shame !!!!
howevr....hearty congratulations 2 all dose who won d oscars !!
I'm not proud of slumdog coz I feel its not an Indian film
PS:I'm adding all comments I'm geting on this note on fb

Little by Little :)

Life is too short and small things do make difference,I have this really remarkable incident about which I'm still wondering. There are lot of times when we think the worlds isn't watching us,but then it comes as a shock when people come up to you and say things which you never expected.
Some two days back I had gone to college and met some lecturer, our group was discussing loads of things with lecturer, and the lecturer was discussing with us lot of issues which he said he never discussed with anyone,I was so amazed to know how this person is.He told us lot of inccidents about his life which we coming from affluent family don't ponder over, personally I'm a spendthrift you give me Rs 10 or a lakh it would all be wasted!!
Over the years I have become more spendthrift.I know my flaws and have thought would overcome them little by little...oops this was not the point,so this professor was telling all of us our traits & when he looked at me he told something really positive about me.I was amased to see his observation.
But this is not the point, the point is there are very small things that can make difference to lot of issues around and you.I still remember when I was in class 4th Swati mam used to teach us,she taught us for some 2 years &when she was leaving the school she gave evry single kid in the class a card with a big message. She nade an effort to give every student a card and unique message. The message stated that
"Mahak you are the most talkitive girl in the class who keeps amazing me everytime,I still remember when I scolded you infront of the class and you came upto me & said innocently why I scolded infront of whole class!..I told you the reason that you had bullied ******,and next moment I saw you smiling..you are the sweetest girl with sweetest smile.I wish you luck and want you to succeed in life.
following it was long quote & a very sweet incident "
She was the one who taught me how to express my feeling and how very small incident & words can make a difference.I still have this card and will scan it and put it up soon.It is because of her that I started making people close to me feel important...
PS:these two incidents just struck me, I know I have gone all hapazard in explaining it.Its difficult for me 2 express how it actually feels like,I know most of ann marians would understand what I want to express.
PSS:I just want to thank Swati Mam (in btw anybody has clue where she is?)
Still miss those moments !
DEV D + Abhay Deol : 5 stars!

Dev D the new Devdas
I enjoyed the movie, great screenplay & story .The movie is smartly directed & when I say smart it is actually smart. When you go to see the movie you will always compare it with original,I can assure you that the classic lover might hate this version but all in all it was good movie.
Anurag kashyap directions plus point was Abhay deol who fits into misfit cateogry !! & the funniest thing is you know he is doing everything wrong but you will still support him.in btw you will love its ending for sure and when he says "Dev ab bhi time hai sudhar jaa " u realise wao it was great
5 stars to Abhay Deol no doubt.
PS: The only negative point is its fowl language but I guess it was required..
100 % recommended movie .Just see and smile ,don't implement !

Slumdog millionaire its hundred times better then d novel nytime..
6- You are on a desert island... you found the island genie who granted you on wish that he would bring one person to join you on your exile... You have told the genie who you want that to be... apparently the genie isn't all that magical... he went to get that person and you are waiting for the procrastinating genie to get back with that person... "When God leads you to the edge of the cliff, trust Him fully and let go, only 1 of 2 things will happen, either He'll catch you when you fall, or He'll teach you how to fly!"
This quote just struck me,There are times when we curse God and say why did ya do this to me and stuff, but down the line if we sit back and think we will understand everything happens for a reason..I have always had this love hate relationship with God,I used to curse him if I used to get lowe grade ( I was the only kid who flunked in mathematics term test in class 9 :P ) & love him whenever I used to score marks :P
But as I grew I understood that ,whenever I happen to do something wrong God starts giving me hints..for eg : If i have to write this cursing sms to one of my friend,my cell would not have network ;)...but then I never understood the hint and ended up ruining friendship with her :P
There are lot of instances in which i couldn't understand the hint ,I have always believed that whatever happens for good .But what is more important is how you get over your crises a) you take somebodies help b) you get over yourself
Whichever way you are following what is more important is you get over it!I know lot of times its depressing at this age when you see your peer group doing well and you see yourself going nowhere..but the basic funda is stay positive and don't loose your focus. If you loose an oppurtanity it means something better is waiting ....and believe me its true :)
God loves everybody and he would never forget you...you just remain focused and everything is gonna be fine..
PS: all of sudden I have grown up and started giving stay positive lectures !

I believe this is one phase of my life where I have slogged myself hard...there are times when I wan't break but then I see these weird deadlines ...things to do list keeps on piling as usual
Its kind of strange but I can proudly say I have become independent after all..Its great accomplishment for a lazy person like me,who has never done a thing ...I can proudly say everything good or bad happening to me ,I'm responsible!!
Its kind of strange feeling..I dont ask dad to do all my work or my ma to look up for my notes on net n stuff!anyways the world will not believe but my ma taught me till 4th sem(she being from biological line n I being the kid :P )..till 2nd sem dad used to search n do my assignments.. ;)
I still remember last year I had this seminar in class, and during those times my dadima n bauji were at my place...I can guarantee you I told them this c**p some 10 times...and guess what I got really scared during the seminar n delivered d stuff in just 5 secs!!
So now I can proudly say I have grown up!!
Though bhaiya keeps telling me ur still 5 years behind your age but I can proudly say now I'm just 2years behind my age :P
PS:I'm so proud of myself :)

It was hectic day with lot of signature and start of Biomingle officially!but what counts is the way day ended.I was really tired today coz I had to run up and down d college for various reason but then I kept telling myself "Mau U have gained weight so u need 2 slog now :P "..I had to sit back in college till 6 pm,and while I was coming back there was damn rush in the train, plus the typical "machi" woman..who made me realize my decision to stop eating non veg was rite!
But what was enlightening was a small kid sitting in front of me in this rush hour.He kept staring me and eveytime I picked my cell he would start posing..People around me God knows why were staring me,but who cares!!I clicked * * and every time I clicked the pic this boy grinned!!
Now I called him and asked do u go 2 school?the reply was "staring" eyes...I always keep some candy with me in my "jhola" so gave this kid and the grin went straight up till the sparking eyes!
ho boy u made my day thats what I muttered..and soon I reached Panvel station...
u know what captured me about this kid was his innocence, his smile and above all the spark!
God bless ya,Wish could help u out boy
